Poland by David Young

This day was basically the only day when we didn’t focus on the Holocaust. It was a nice break and certainly a needed halt from studying and learning about the mass murder of Jews. We went to a very large salt mine near Krakow. The salt mine was active for around 1000 years which is just crazy to think about. I enjoyed today because everyone was in a great mood, and had fun. This entire trip has been a rollercoaster of emotions from going to Auchwitz on Friday, and then going back to the hotel and having the Shabbat dinner with everybody dancing to the music and having a good time.

I don’t know what words to use when I will describe this trip to others. I don’t know whether to say it was fun, meaningful, informative, etc. Also, the final dinner was extremely fun, and a great way to end the trip. There was singing, dancing, and everything in between. Overall, this study seminar was the perfect balance of sadness and happiness.
