This special exhibition showcases stories of the Kindertransport, in collaboration with the Austrian Embassy, Classrooms Without Borders, and the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh.
PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR OPENING RECEPTION EVENT ON SEPTEMBER 22nd AT 6pm ET
The photography project “Für das Kind / For the Child”, curated by Rosie Potter and Patricia Ayre, revisits the moving and dramatic history of the Kindertransport to Great Britain, which saved the lives of thousands of Jewish children from Germany, Austria, and former Czechoslovakia from Nazi persecution. Potter and Ayre asked survivors to share the personal belongings that accompanied them as children on the Kindertransport. Often, these objects represent the last physical connection the children had with their parents. The photographs in the exhibition convey the deep emotions and trauma of separation, as well as the hope of survival and the start of a new future.
The Exhibit will be traveling throughout the greater Pittsburgh area this Fall. To schedule in your school or community contact Ellen Resnek [email protected]
