Voices in the void

Voices in the void – The Story of the rescue of the Danish Jews

“I think the moral is that one should listen to their conscience. Don’t leave the work to others but do it yourself. Make the change happen” (Rabbi Bent Melchior)

As part of a unique collaboration between the Danish embassy in Israel and the Ghetto Fighters’ House we invite you to take part in an online educational activity that sheds light on the incredible story of the rescue of the Danish Jews during the Holocaust. The rescue of the Danish Jews during the Holocaust is a story of incredible civil mobilization which encompassed different sectors and individuals in the Danish society who chose to act, in a way that is not obvious, against the deportation of the Jews of their state.

The interactive activity invites the young generation to examine with a contemporary gaze the humane values that were revealed during the historical circumstances of that dark period. The activity is based on the personal story of Rabbi Bent Melchior, in years to come the Chief Rabbi of Denmark.

“The rescue of Denmark’s Jews during the Holocaust is a story of great civil mobilization that included different sectors and individuals in the Danish society who chose to make a stand and take action against the deportation of their country’s Jews.

The activity highlights values of solidarity, Humanism, Tolerance, Activism, Human rights, mutual responsibility and choosing humanity above all”

* The length of the online activity is approx. 90 minutes.

* The activity is held in Hebrew, English & Arabic.

* This is a free activity. To deliver the activity at your school, find the activity kit on our website – www.gfh.co.il.
