A Day of Learning on the White Rose – Anne Nelson at Winchester Thurston

On October 20th, Columbia University professor, author and playwright Anne Nelson spoke to 60 middle and high-school students from 4 different schools at the Day of Learning on the White Rose, a jointly organized event by Classrooms Without Borders and Winchester Thurston School. The students saw a short 2014 documentary on the White Rose (The Search for the White Rose – trailer here) and then split up into groups, where they either heard Mrs. Nelson speak on her research on resistance movements against the Nazis, toured the White Rose exhibit in the Art Gallery or attended WT faculty-led workshops on resistance and civil courage today.
