“In Greece, In Memory of the Holocaust
Led by by its director, Dr. Zipora Gur, representatives of the American educational organization Classrooms Without Borders visited Peania and held a working lunch at the European Arts Center with the objective of participating in the multi-day educational seminar that will be realized in Greece by the visitor academics in mid-June.
During the seminar, there will be events in memory of the Holocaust of the Greek Jews in Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Volos, as well as an honorable tribute in the martyric Distomo.
The events will culminate, on June 24th, with a Hellenic-international cultural tribute at the European Arts Center, a program under the auspices of the Regional Prefecture of Eastern Attica, the American Hellenic Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. This tribute will be greeted through a letter by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, Phillip, whose mother, Princess Alice of Greece, saved Greek Jewish families during the occupation of Athens, who later was recognized as one of the Greek Righteous by the state of Israel.
