Shalom parents!
Our last day in Israel was amazing, to say the least. In the morning, we left the children’s village with tears in our eyes. We arrived in Zihron where we visited the Roschild botanical gardens. Our tour guide Barak helped us realize the beauty of the world around us with a simple meditation in the gardens. With five minutes of just laying in the grass and not speaking, we all realized that we need to just pause in life and enjoy everything while it’s happening, instead of rushing and letting all the good things to pass. If we do this for two minutes a day, we can all clear our minds and appreciate everything more.
We continued our journey to tel-aviv where we had our last doses of the amazing falafel here. We had what was supposedly Israel’s best ice cream and proceeded on. We then arrived at Israel’s independence hall where we got to learn about how Israel was created as a Jewish state.
Later on we got to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity. Walking in to what looked like an old warehouse, we were a bit nervous at first. The restaurant “Please Touch” was something extraordinary as all the waiters and waitresses there were either blind or visually impaired. Even the restaurant itself was pitch black. We struggled to our seats and with pouring our water (which ended in a rather wet tablecloth) at first. But we adapted more or less after about 30 minutes. At some point a few of us got a little too comfortable and decided to take a small walk to Tsipy’s table. At the end of this we all took at least one thing away from it. We wanted to make this experience known to all and bring it to as many people as we could.
We concluded our day with some coffee at the port next to the gorgeous water of the Mediterranean. The trip overall was an experience we’ll never forget. We’d love to come back soon but we’re excited to be coming home. See you soon !
