Shalom! Today we started our day in Acre and visited the Al-Jazar mosque. Ireally enjoyed the architecture of the mosque with the domes, columns, and arches. The gardens there were beautiful and well maintained. It was very peaceful here!
The second site we visited was the Zippori National park. I found it fascinating that archeologist were still excavating thousands of year old art work still today! The mosaics were beautiful, especially the beautiful woman. The highlights of color in her face were outstanding.
The third site we visited today was the Basilica of annunciation in Nazareth. The church design itself was outstanding! The geometric stained glass caught my eyes immediately. I was also intrigued by the different works of art depicting Mary from all of the world in catholic communities. It’s great to see that the arts bring cultures together in the same place!
Lastly but not least, we met our partnership host in Karmiel/ Misgav. I connected with my host Gabi instantly! She is a jeweler and architect by trade. Her and her family are very kind and welcoming to my stay. It was really great talking and getting to know more about the local Israelis, their culture/ community and connecting with them on a personal level. Such an amazing second day in Israel!
