We ate a quick breakfast of yogurt and tea and rushed out to the buses. We drove to the center of Karmiel to see some Bedouin communities. It was very interesting to see how they lived. Then, we drove to two Holocaust memorials. One of the memorials had three parts all created by the same artist. One depicted four people escaping before the Holocaust, carrying suitcases and a Torah. The second showed the struggles of people in the Holocaust, and the third showed a woman and her son as a symbol of hope for the future. The second was a memorial thanking the soldiers from each part of the world who fought in WWII.
Later on, we went to a local high school in Karmiel, called Pisgot. In the high school we spoke with seniors who are very good at speaking English. We spoke to them about several things such as: the recent election in the U.S., sports/ hobbies, favorite classes, and the difference between high school in the U.S. and high school in Israel. After we left the school, we went to a restaurant, and at a lunch of pizza and salad.
Afterwards, we went to an army base for education. At the army base, some soldiers
came to talk to us about when they got drafted into the army, how their experience has been in the army so far, and some different units in this special base. Some units they talked about are: the Ethiopian unit, the unit for people from difficult backgrounds, the unit for people with learning disabilities, and many others.
Then, we drove back to the village, and met with our Mishpachtons. We ate dinner with our Mishpachton and walked around the village. I ate a delicious dinner of chicken schnitzel and Israeli pasta with vegetables. Later, we all met in one of the houses and talked about how our days went.
