Day 2 – Letters from the Children’s Village 2018

By Emma Stewart
Our day started out with a trip to a Druze school, where we met some kids our age, and had a conversation with them. We exchanged Instagrams and phone numbers, and went on the bus. On the bus ride, our driver stopped the bus, and stole us some unripe almonds to taste. We all agreed they were pretty bitter. Soon, we arrived in Safed where we went to a candle store. After the candle store, we went to a cheese factory. We tasted several types of cheeses and bought some for the road. We had lunch in the cafeteria, and went to meet our families. I played soccer, basketball, ping pong, and pool with my family, and we went to the playground.

My family was so welcoming to me. They immediately tried to communicate (even if they didn’t know English well) and invited me to do things with them.

I loved my family. They were so kind and excited to see me. One boy couldn’t wait to show me his Pitt shirt, which I thought was so sweet. My experience so far has been incredible!

When I met my family instantly they all wanted to play soccer, so we played soccer. Then they wanted to play FIFA (the soccer video game) it was a lot of soccer but a lot of fun
The younger kids are very nice and love to laugh.

My family was amazing, when I first met them they immediately wanted to go outside and play. They enjoyed soccer, hide and seek, and playing with the neighborhood dogs. We had a ton of fun. My time with my family has had a great start!

I was immediately welcomed into my family and felt at home. All of the kids were very friendly and wanted to show me the things they love. I went to a Zumba class with one of the kids, played soccer, and received heartwarming letters.

My family was very nice. There was cheese bread for dinner, which was delicious. I am looking forward to the rest of the trip.
