Day 3 – Letters from the Children’s Village Teen Service Trip

Shalom parents!
Sending you a message from Art Decoco, a delicious chocolate cafe, after a very eventful day in the North.  First we went to a school in Misgav and met 10th and 12th graders during their english class.  We witnessed first hand the differences and similarities between us and Israeli teens.  For example, after high school they are required to join the army or could take our version of a gap year to volunteer.  We then went to Rosh Hanikrah where we went through caves and saw the Lebanon border. At the border we met the Givati unit and took pictures with a couple of the soldiers.  After that we went to a market and went on a boat ride with a view of Haifa.  Then we had a yummy Israeli lunch with falafels, Israeli salad, and hummus.  I must say that the ketchup was no match to Heinz. We went back to the village to nap and see our families and then came here to the chocolate store.  We’re having a blast and we’ll give you another update tomorrow.
Best
   Kate
