Day 4 – Sophia | Letters from the Children’s Village 2016

IMG_8683Today we started at a Pisgot high school in Karmiel. When we got there we broke into small groups for dialogue sessions and each talked to a few Israeli seniors. They were in an advanced English class so they spoke English very well. In my group we talked about TV shows and music that we all liked and other things. Also they told us all about how big the Jewish holidays are in Israel and how they were feeling about going to the army. Overall, we found a lot of similarities between us and talking to them was super fun. Then we went to a college to learn about conservation and social integration. A bioengineering educator told us about a class that she taught where students build special devices to help handicapped people in Israel. Lastly, we went to Tomer’s house and he gave us a quick cooking class on how to easily cook a delicious Israeli meal – we made falafel, hummus, and Israeli salad. We returned to the village and hung out with our families. We helped prepare dinner and afterward all of the boys and I played together with the football I gave them as a gift.
