We started are day waking up at the crack of dawn to journey down to Jerusalem. We spent two hours on the bus with our amazing tour guide Barak. We started the tour by going to a landing at the top of Jerusalem looking over the western wall and the whole city. We took awesome pictures with the amazing view.
We then went down to the old city where we saw the city of David and went to David’s tomb. It was very interesting to see how the men and women were separate here while praying over his tomb. We then continued to have an awesome lunch where we all tried Israeli foods, Schwarma, falafel, and hummus. We then went to the Western Wall during the day to take photos and experience it in day light.
We then when to Machne yehuda market which was very busy since all the people were shopping before Shabbat. It was very cool to look around and try different foods and candies. We were able to also buy more goodies. A cute older couple came up to all of us and taught us a Israeli dance and we all laughed and danced around.
We then returned back to the hotel where we got ready for dinner and met up with Gabby’s uncle who lives in Jerusalem. We all lit the Shabbat candles together and headed back over to the Western Wall. Here we split back up into boys and girls and went and put our wishes into the wall. We all felt special and fortunate that we were able to go to the wall and experience such a fascinating event. It was fun to dance around and sing with all the other people at the wall. It was one big party.
Ben, Adam and Gabby’s uncle Mark walked back to the hotel while the rest of the kids rode the bus and continued to have a delicious Shabbat dinner with talking about how lucky we are to be on this trip. We all finally realized tonight how eye opening this trip is and what we are doing is making such a huge impact on the foster kids. We are very similar to this kids and the littlest thing will make an impact on them.
This is the most amazing thing we have all been on and we can’t wait to be future leaders that can make an impact in other peoples live’s.
Best
