Day 8 (Gail) – Israel Arts & Culture 2017

By: Gail Ungar

Art has amazing powers, our Classrooms Without Borders group learned on our visit to Jerusalem’s Islamic Museum of Art.  Through art, ideas, dialogue, and conversation its education department is bringing together people of differing narratives with the goal of educating, bringing mutual understanding, respect, and ultimately peace to its city.

Among the goals of the Islamic Museum of Art is to break barriers between Jewish and Arab children, by facilitating workshops that educate, and promote dialogue using the universal language of art.  In this city where people can be separated by neighborhoods, religion, and ideology, this museum’s education department brings these people together.
