Day 8 – Letters from the Children’s Village 2018

By Megan Bulova
Chocolate and Goodbyes
Our original plan for today was to go to an archeological dig, however, an accident on the main road prevented us from getting there. Luckily, our guide, Tomer, had many backup plans. We spent the afternoon at Galita Chocolate Farm in Kibbutz Degania. We watched a short movie about how chocolate is made, then we were able to decorate our own chocolate bar and 8 truffles to take home. When we returned to the village, we gave over 200 pairs of Peppers Brand sunglasses from Marcy to the children. The rest of our afternoon was spent with our mishpachtonim. We have all made such strong bonds with the children which made it very difficult to say goodbye. We all received many gifts and endless hugs. One of the girls in my family asked if I could live with them. It was hard to realize we have already been in the village for 7 days because it feels like we have just arrived. We are all looking forward to riding camels and floating in the Dead Sea tomorrow after sad goodbyes.
