This morning, we left the village. On our way out, we got to see some of the kids from our mishpactons all in their costumes for Purim and we stopped by for an extra chance to say goodbye. It was such a sad moment to pull away from the village – but on the bright side we knew that we had a fun filled day ahead of us. After driving down south, we went on a camel ride. I was very scared about getting on the camel but then it got more comfortable and ended up being fun!! After that we drove to our hotel at the Dead Sea and had some lunch at Aroma. Then we checked in to our rooms and quickly changed into our swim suits so that we could enjoy as much time as possible in the Dead Sea. We went into the Dead Sea and floated around for a while and took lots of pictures of the beautiful and unique landscape. Then we went into the hot tub and the mineral pool. After eating dinner at the hotel, we went outside on the patio to talk and just take in the scenery. It was such a sad day to be leaving the village but we also had a lot of fun!! I can’t believe we’ll leave Israel tomorrow!
What was your favorite moment with your host family?
Hanna- my favorite moment with my family was last night. I walked into the house and everyone was sitting on the couch waiting for me. They gave me a beautiful collage of pictures from the trip and they all wrote me a note and read them. I’m going to miss them so much.
Annie- one of my favorite moments with my family is when one of my kids, Lidor, on the second night at the children’s village gave me one of his own stuffed animals to remember him by. He was so sweet and kind to me, always trying to include me and play with me. I also loved Sunday night when my family surprised me with gifts such as a book of drawings, a knitted flower they made, a card and some lotions. I never expected anything from them and I appreciate it so much.
Emily- my favorite moment with my family was my birthday party. They baked me a cake and made six pizzas. They decorated the entire house and bought me jewelry. That was my favorite moment because my parents took their own money and bought me something special. My family means so much to me.
Olivia- my favorite moment was with one of the little boys in my family named Or. On the day we went to the bird exhibit we spent the whole day holding hands and playing fun hand games. That day has stuck with me because during that day i really felt like I had some importance to him and that I could make a difference in his happiness.
Sophia – My favorite moment was when one of the kids in my family, Eli went over to our apartment and left a surprise for me on my bed. He left me a huge bag of Israeli snacks and a stack of notes from everyone in my family thanking me for coming and bringing them gifts. I was completely surprised when I returned that night. Also overall I enjoyed playing ping pong, football, soccer, and darts with all of the little boys in my family.
Bella- My favorite day was when they had the going away party for me. They made me a cake and cupcakes. Also they gave me a scrap book and a necklace. I thought that it was so thoughtful and I really enjoyed every minute I was with them because we always had fun.
