EARLY OBSERVATIONS
“I will pay 50 euros to the person who can name 20 Greek Gods by the end of the trip.”
I wish that I could accept that challenge. I’m usually very good with names, but I’m so busy taking in all of the culture that I see happening around me and the ruins scattered all over the place. I wonder how a high school history class in Greece differs from a history class in the United States. I feel like Greece has so much more history compared to the United States. We go back a few hundred years whereas Greece goes back thousands of years. Also, we have a few stories that debate how our flag was made or about the midnight ride of Paul Revere, but Greece has a history which includes mythology, ancient Olympic Games, Alexander the Great, and important events surrounding the Holocaust. I see history all around me from a different time.
By the way, here’s my list of Gods so far: Zeus, Athena, Arthemis, Hera, Kleovis, Viston, Paylops, Tandalos, Epodemia, and Kronos. I have 10. Greece Travelers: how many are you up to?
*Disclaimer: My spelling is incorrect. It’s based on what I hear and how it sounds to me. Besides, I don’t have access to Wi-Fi long enough to look each of them up.
