German Teachers’ Info Workshop on the White Rose

AATG participants at the White Rose Info Workshop.

On September 6th, 2014 the American Association of Teachers of German’s (AATG) Western Pennsylvania chapter met with Classrooms Without Borders for an Info Workshop on the White Rose. The group met on Carnegie Mellon’s Campus and featured Dr. Gabriele Eichmanns as coordinator for AATG, Dr. Zipora Gur, Executive Director of Classrooms Without Borders, and Isabel Ranner, the International Program Assistant for Classrooms Without Borders and coordinator of the White Rose exhibit, as well as a group of very dedicated German teachers and professors from schools such as Hampton High School, Carnegie Mellon University, Obama Academy of International Studies and Mt. Lebanon High School.

Over orange juice and bagels, the group was first acquainted with CWB’s mission, activities and programs for teachers, then they heard a short presentation on the history of the White Rose, including some details of the exhibit and its locations. The group discussed their use of different teaching materials and approaches. The meeting ended with a fruitful discussion about the teachers’  involvement in future programming of Classrooms Without Borders.

From October – December 2014, Classrooms Without Borders will be hosting the travelling exhibit on the White Rose, provided by the Weisse Rose Foundation e.V. Munich. For more information on the exhibit, see http://www.classroomswithoutborders.org/events/show.php?56.
