A core CWB program is the annual International Teen Service Trip to the Children’s Village, in Karmiel, Israel.
This year’s trip will take place March 16-27. Six students from The Ellis School and Sewickley Academy, as well as an educator from Sewickley Academy, will participate.
The trip to the Children’s Village provides an extraordinary opportunity for Jewish and non-Jewish U.S. teens to visit Israel and have a special volunteer experience with the large adoptive family groups who live in The Children’s Village. The teens learn about themselves and their capabilities as they commit to new responsibilities and to creating change in individuals’ lives and in society as a whole.
Teen travelers also experience Israel in all its modern diversity, undertaking a study tour of the Galilee, where The Village is located. They experience Israel’s religious, ethnic, and social diversity and learn about Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. An important part of the experience is meeting Israeli peers, exchanging views with them, and discovering what everyone has in common.
