Local Educator To Head CWB’s Wheeling Office

Please join us at Classrooms Without Borders in welcoming on-board Jamie Campbell, who will serve as the new program administrator for our Wheeling, West Virginia chapter.

Campbell, a social studies teacher and department chair at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, first became introduced to the organization about six years ago.

“My principal came to me one day and said, ‘Well, you’re going to Berlin!’” she said. “My experience as a teacher will help Classrooms Without Borders in that I know the ins and outs of taking a life experience and channeling that into something meaningful in the classroom.”

Campbell will continue to work as a teacher while serving as our Wheeling administrator.

The educator grew up in Wheeling but moved elsewhere before returning to her hometown, where she now lives with her husband and two daughters, one of whom is in college.

“It’s the sense of community in Wheeling that keeps me here. I grew up and always said, ‘I’m going to get out of this small town.’ But I always had the feeling that I wanted to go back,” she said. “There’s a terrific sense of community. Wheeling’s nickname is The Friendly City and I think that’s apt.”

And what does Jamie like to do when she’s not working?

“Between teaching and Classrooms Without Borders, I don’t have much free time anymore,” she laughed.

If you live in the Wheeling area, e-mail Jamie today at [email protected].
