I keep recalling all of the wonderful, inspiring things that we saw and heard while in Greece, and I truly can’t believe that I had the good fortune to have been a part of it all. I am excited when I think about all of the things that I can do with what I have learned in my own classroom. Certainly, all of the beautiful pictures that I have will greatly enhance my teaching of Greek mythology and ancient Greece, but the facts and stories that I learned from our fabulous tour guides, Eugenia and Avi, will make me a better teacher of ancient history.
I plan to invite the terrific teens that were on our trip into my classroom to share their experiences in Greece. They are such bright, articulate, and poised students, and I know that my 5th grade students will love hearing their stories and impressions of Greece. If they are willing, I would also love to invite them into the 8th grade history classroom, where there is a unit devoted to the Holocaust. The stories that we heard from the families of survivors need to be shared, and this would be a terrific addition to the current Holocaust unit.
Additionally, Ellen and Mandy and I hope to present how we plan to use what we have learned from our trip to Greece at a conference this fall. We can share how we will use our experiences at different levels and disciplines.
Finally, I am forever grateful to have experienced Greece with my niece, Elizabeth. The memories that we made on this trip are priceless. Thank you, Tsipy, for making this possible. I am forever grateful.
Thanks also to Eugenia, Lia, and Avi, for teaching us all about beautiful Greece, and for making us laugh along the way.
