“Shall We Survive”
Walls and wires have become our view.
Hunger and sickness to a Warsaw Jew.
Beaten and trapped in a common struggle,
Forced to lie, cheat and sometimes smuggle.
Some will run, many will hide,
no way to tell how many have died.
Taken like cattle pushed on to a train,
not enough tears to put out the flames.
Evil comes under a bright red flag,
All of our memories stuffed into a bag.
Having to submit to an insidious persistence.
Willl they allow a kosher existence?
Tomorrow is another day,
No matter the spot that we may lay. Blessed and given the task to stay alive.
We must always remember,
shall we survive
