The Sea

Our flight was delayed four and a half hours, which cut some of our program off on the first day. Yet, since the compromise was a picnic on the Mediterranean at a Roman aqueduct in Caesarea, we were all quite content.

Caesarea

The sea air eased us into the journey and our tomato and goat cheese baguettes gave us enough energy to get through the afternoon.  I always love to visit Roman ruins in my travels, which reminds me just how expansive that ancient empire was. And that there are so many parts of it in modern day countries gives many different cultures a piece of shared history.

After checking into our hotel in Haifa, we went to a lovely gourmet restaurant where I took advantage of eating by the sea. Salmon ceviche and baby calamari was not a bad way to start off the trip!
